A Biblical Call to Discern,
Stand Firm & Refuse Control
Most men were never trained for this kind of fight.
They were taught to keep the peace, absorb pressure, carry weight without complaint. To forgive quickly, speak softly, and stay put when something in their gut was telling them to walk. They were told being “the bigger person” meant enduring whatever came their way.
That training sounds noble. In reality, it leaves men trapped.
Trapped in confusion.
Second-guessing themselves.
Drained, heavy, worn down.
Carrying guilt that doesn’t belong to them.
Living under a pressure they can’t quite name.
Let’s be clear—this is not humility.
It’s misdirected obedience.
And it keeps you under control.
WHAT WE’RE REALLY DEALING WITH...
The world calls it narcissism.
Scripture cuts deeper.
This isn’t just personality
it’s pattern
It’s posture
At times, it’s something operating beneath the surface.
The Bible describes these people plainly: the scoffer, the mocker, the one who stirs division, the hardened heart that refuses correction.
And at a deeper level, there’s a pattern Scripture captures in the image of Leviathan 🐍
twisting, coiling, proud, unyielding. A way of relating that distorts truth, avoids accountability, and protects image at all costs.
You’ll recognise it if you’ve lived around it long enough.
Truth gets twisted.
Blame gets redirected.
Confusion becomes the environment.
Accountability never lands.
This isn’t just “a difficult person.”
It’s a relational system built on control, power, and the avoidance of shame.
That doesn’t mean they’re beyond redemption.
But it does mean you’d better walk in discernment—because without it, you will get pulled in.
WHY THIS RUNS SO DEEP?
These patterns don’t come out of nowhere.
More often than not, they’re forged early through neglect, inconsistency, shame, or love that had to be earned.
Over time, that kind of environment produces a fragile identity.
One that can’t take correction, struggles to empathise & learns to control rather than connect.
That explains the behaviour.
It does not excuse it.
Understanding gives you clarity.
Discernment tells you what to do next.
HOW THE PATTERN WORKS
Once you see it, it becomes predictable.
Your words get twisted.
The story gets rewritten.
They position themselves as the victim.
Kindness appears when it serves them, disappears when it doesn’t.
Fault is never owned.
The goal is simple: maintain control, protect image, avoid shame.
And if you don’t recognise the pattern, you’ll start adjusting yourself to survive it. You’ll over-explain, over-apologise, over-carry.
Before long, you’re participating in the very thing that’s draining you.
JESUS WAS NOT PASSIVE
We need to deal with this head-on—because too many men have been handed a soft, distorted picture of Jesus.
He was not passive.
He called out deception directly.
He exposed hypocrisy in public.
He refused to answer manipulative questions.
He walked away from those who were hardened.
He limited who had access to Him.
He loved fully—but He never submitted to dysfunction.
That’s the model.
WHERE MEN LOSE GROUND
You’ve been trying to explain yourself to someone committed to misunderstanding you.
You’ve been trying to create peace with someone who feeds on tension.
You’ve been trying to fix someone who refuses truth.
And somewhere along the way, you picked up responsibility that was never yours to carry.
That must end!
THE RESPONSE OF A GROUNDED MAN
First, you discern who you’re dealing with.
Scripture doesn’t treat everyone the same, and neither should you.
The wise receive correction.
The foolish resist it but may learn the hard way.
The wicked intend harm.
If you give equal access to all three, you will pay for it.
Second, you stop chasing understanding.
Hard truth, some people do not want clarity. They want control. Jesus didn’t run after hardened hearts trying to be understood.
He spoke truth and let it stand.
Third, you set boundaries.
Not emotional.
Not reactive.
Not loud.
But clear, direct and final.
You say what needs to be said, and then you live like you meant it.
Authority isn’t built on intensity—it’s built on consistency.
Fourth, you stop rewarding the behaviour.
This is where most men fall.
You smooth things over. You rescue. You over-explain. You absorb consequences that should never have landed on you.
That’s not love. That’s enabling.
Patterns only break when they stop working.
GUARD YOUR INNER LIFE
Chronic relational pressure will wear you down—mentally, physically, spiritually.
If you’re constantly foggy, tense, or drained, you’re not “handling it well.” You’re being eroded.
You need space.
You need truth.
You need men around you who are grounded.
Elijah needed rest.
Jesus withdrew.
You’re not above that.
YOU ARE NOT THE HOLY SPIRIT
You cannot fix them.
You cannot heal them.
You cannot force truth into them.
Your role is simple: speak truth, walk in integrity, hold your ground.
God handles conviction.
FORGIVENESS WITHOUT SELF-BETRAYAL
Forgiveness is commanded.
Reconciliation is not automatic.
If there’s no repentance, no ownership, no change—then rebuilding trust isn’t wisdom. It’s self-betrayal dressed up as grace.
WHEN DISTANCE IS OBEDIENCE
Watch the pattern over time.
Manipulation.
Rage when challenged.
Blame as default.
No accountability.
Even Scripture used as a tool of control.
And when you finally stand firm—it escalates.
That’s not a rough patch.
That’s a destructive pattern.
And sometimes the most obedient thing you can do is step back.
Not out of bitterness.
Out of alignment.
FINAL WORD
Breaking free from Leviathan isn’t about winning arguments.
It’s about refusing control.
Standing in truth.
Protecting what God is building in you.
You can love people.
You can forgive them.
You can pray for them.
But you do not submit to manipulation.
You do not abandon your identity.
You do not sacrifice your calling to keep someone comfortable.
Some of you need this straight:
You’ve been tolerating what you were meant to confront.
You’ve been staying where you were meant to step back.
You’ve been silent when you were meant to speak.
That stops now!
THE CALL...
Stand up.
Sharpen your discernment.
Set your boundaries.
Speak truth without flinching.
And if they choose pride, control, and hardness—
You walk.
With peace.
With clarity.
With authority.
You are called to love people.
Not lose yourself.
Badger out 🦡
